Hartford Breaks Ground for Rebuild

Built in 1957, Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary School is one of the oldest elementary schools in Chandler Unified School District. Some of our students have siblings and generational ties at this school.

About Our School...

Hartford Sylvia Encinas Elementary, home of the Huskies, was built in 1957. It is the oldest elementary school in the Chandler Unified District that is still open. Hartford is located in the heart of the City of Chandler. In 2017, Hartford Sylvia Encinas was named an A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Education Foundation.

Hartford educates students from preschool through sixth grade. There are approximately 740 students enrolled. Hartford has a full-time Parent Liaison, Behavioral Specialist, Math Coach, two Reading Specialists and highly qualified paraeducators. The Parent Liaison coordinates parental education and involvement activities through our Parent Resource Room. Our staff and school have received numerous awards, grants and accolades.

The highly qualified teaching staff at Hartford Sylvia Encinas has very high expectations for all students. Ongoing data is collected to best meet the needs of each individual student. We provide a variety of extra-curricular activities throughout the year. Our teachers and administration have an open-door policy. We encourage your involvement at our school.
